  1. Excellent vid, I learned so much in so little time! Question: I am a user
of Sampletank, and other multi-timbral softsynths. How do I create 16 Midi
Channels into a preset so I don’t have to re-map and load my sampletank
    sounds each time?

  2. well, yes and no. I phrased it poorly, because the automation in the clips
and the arrangement are exactly the same – they are can be used
interchangeably. What I meant is that if you are in arrangement view, you
used to be able to double click on the clip and go into the envelopes and
do ‘clip automation’. That is no longer the case, all of those automatable
parameters are still automatable through the arrangement view but that
specific way of doing it is no longer available. Make sense?

  3. Great video and good descriptions/voice projection. Clearest ableton
tutorial I’ve watched keep it up

  4. FreshnessStudio1

Could I download the Max LFO somewhere? I had a look for it @ M4L couldn’t
see it? thanks for taking the time enjoyed a lot πŸ˜€

  5. Well done. I love watching someone who can wip around Ableton this fast.
Workflow doesn’t get much attention in the video Tutorials. How about
constructing a few small drum and bass examples. You also mention creating
interesting sound clips…”do some every day”… about showing a few
    of those. Thanks

  6. Great video man, thanks alot πŸ™‚ The Automation in clips in Arrangement view
has really shocked me .. does that mean that to control a parameter in
Arrangement, you HAVE to put that clip in Session ? I’ve been using ableton
for a while, and I do all my stuff in arrangement view because i do a lot
of chopping and micro edits, and that would really annoy me to have to
consolidate everything to put in the session to then bring back to
arrangement, is there a way to make it easier ?

  7. because they completely changed the way clip automation works. it used to
scale off of the values of the knobs position, so if you had your filter at
50% going from 0-100% in clip automation would only sweep half your filter.
You can still do all the things that you used to be able to do, just a
slightly different method. if you have a clip in arrangement and you want
to use the clip interface for doing automation, copy the clip into session,
automate, then copy that clip to arrangement πŸ™‚

  8. Great idea for a next tutorial, I’ll look into that and see if I can come
up with something in the next week or so. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks
    for the kind words πŸ™‚

  9. Sylenth is an external plugin, which means it doesn’t come with ableton. If
you have it: – install into the folder you wanna make your plugin-folder –
go into live preferences -> file/folder -> scan plugin folder (the one you
previously installed it to (should have a .dll in it somewhere) Hope that
    helps. πŸ˜‰

  10. thankfully in live 9 the automation can peacefully co-exist back and forth
between session and arrange view. If you take a clip from the session view
that has automation in it and copy that clip to arrangement view, the
automation in your clips copies over to the arrangement view automation
lanes (though you might have to expand them to see all if you have a lot)
and vice versa, you can copy a clip (if its a bunch ofclips…consolidate)
over to session from arrangement and its right there!

  11. glad you enjoyed it πŸ™‚ The way I would accomplish that is to create a new
project and set everything up as you want it in the tracks. Then Group all
those tracks, name it “16” or something and save the project. Now, add that
folder into your “places” When you want to drop that preset group into a
project you’re working on, simply go to Places, then you’ll see the Project
Name of your project. Expand that and you should see the “16” (or whatever
you named your group) – now drag and drop πŸ™‚

  12. Thanks for the quick response man πŸ™‚ I did understand that, but what i
truly wanted to know is “Can you automate anything in the clip while it’s
in Arrangement view?” because in the video you said at 11:20 you use to
edit things in the clip, but it doesn’t appear. Also you said “you cant do
clip automation editing in arragement view anymore” … I just want to know
if that is completly true πŸ™‚

  17. Why would you ever use a mac for development? Its made for email, pictures,
    and video. Nothing more…

  18. Ilya Nedoluzhko

Most of these are known things, but can be useful for many. The question is
“why Mac”? It’s quite confising to see familiar thingΡ‹ done unfamiliar way
with that “magic” key. Subtitles of different color for PC would be nice!
Some voice comments also (just name the function being performed).
