4. What hardware/software packages do you train on?top What sets our training apart from other courses is that these classes focus on the individual language, knowledge, tools, and tricks of engineering and production. Other classes fall short in this department by focusing on a particular software package instead of focusing on these most important principles. One can have the best tools of the trade, but without a trained ear & foundation of engineering and production, students can become lost, confused, and misguided.
Our training courses will first give full training and implementation on these principles then, we will apply it to whichever system you are most familiar during the internship hours of these courses. System training ranges from Cubase, Nuendo, WavLab, ProTools, Sonar, Reason, GigaStudio, Acid, VST Instruments, and many more.
5. How go about getting beats/music production for my songs?top There are 3 ways to get music for your songs: A.) Leasing Tracks: This method is the most inexpensive. Tracks are pre-made and pricing varies but most range from $100, $500, $1000, or more. This option is great for Artists needing tracks quickly to release demos. Artist will pay for using the track while producer still owns the music. When getting a deal, the Artist would then negotiate on how the track will be bought or licensed.
B.) Custom Production: If you are in tune with what style track you need and do not play any instruments, this method can be lengthy and pricy but will render the exact production you have visualized for your song(s). Custom Production can be for hourly rates or bought at a fixed price. When getting a deal, the Artist will still negotiate on how the track will be bought or licensed. C.) Complete Buyout: This method is more expensive and is used if an artist wants complete ownership of the music production. Some negotiations will exclude royalties from being bought out but mostly depends on the deal. These prices vary and can range from $1000, $3000, or more. 6. What are your Production Rates? top Music production/track rates vary per project but are available by leasing, hourly custom Production, & complete buyout. Leasing track rates range between $100 to $500. Hourly Custom Production is 40/hr., 4 hour blocks @ $150, 8 hour blocks @ $300. Complete Track Buyout ranges from $1000 to $3000.
7. Are there any extra hidden costs?top Our prices include one CD Master. Additional CD copies can also be purchased. We suggest books for reference during training courses but are not required. If you begin a training package, a textbook will be provided. All Production pricing and details will be discussed before work begins and a Production Agreement will be drawn up if deemed necessary by Producer & Artist. It is our firm belief that business always be handled first so creativity can never be distracted or compromised when the project begins.
We prefer our Clients to know what the costs will be, and will always give a firm quote ahead of the session. When a session runs over the number of hours booked, additional hours will be charged at the same rate as the booked hours.
8.Can I have a look around the Studio?top If you would like to visit the studio, please call and make an appointment as turning up on spec may interrupt someone else's session.
9. What should I do before I come to the Studio?top Rehearse!!! Be sure you know the pieces you are going to record inside out. If you are just recording vocals, have an idea of the arrangement, harmonies, and backup vocals for each song. Only the very experienced can improvise and produce the goods when the record light goes on. Not knowing your part may result in wasted time (and money) and your colleagues won't appreciate it either. If you are bringing music to record vocals over or your own instruments, make sure all data disks and equipment works properly before arriving.
10. Can I bring my own engineer?top Certainly, however, the complexity of the equipment dictates that we must also be on hand to assist. Therefore, bringing your own engineer does not reduce the cost of the session.
11. Can I listen to some of the projects you have produced?top Yes, We have MP3 Demos in Lofi & Hifi format on our Projects Page. We recommend using Winamp for best listening. Our repertoire includes many HipHop, R&B, Gospel, Electronic, and Alternative artists not included on the Projects page but can be heard when visiting the studio.
12.What's this mixing and mastering business all about?top Mixing is an integral part of the recording process and can distinguish a professional song from the amateurs. Mixing a track consists of making sure all elements do not interfere with each other, proper space & frequency balance, creativite positioning, and detailed seasoning to uniquely identify the track. Most importantly the mix must create a massive impact when the song is first heard without one thought of technical details.
Mastering includes a number of processes that give a CD a professional finish. The time interval between tracks is properly set, all tracks are set to play at equal volume, tracks are 'topped and tailed'. Sound quality can also be enhanced if required, the P and Q subcodes necessary to meet the CD standard are inserted. Mixing and mastering an artists project is a part of our hourly/block rate fee and is NOT an extra hidden charge. We mix along the way while the songs are being recorded but we strongly recommend alotting 4-8 hours of time for mixing and mastering after all songs are completely produced and recorded.
13. What are your mixing and mastering rates?top If you have started a project with us, All mixing and mastering rates are the same as our hourly recording rates.
